Expanding our interior design capacities

As of 1 April 2016 OSK Design has acquired Steen Friis Design – Architects and Interior Designers with a solid track record of high profile interior design projects in the maritime sector.

Strong focus on RoPax and Cruise markets

In recent years OSK Design has developed a substantial business within design of newbuildings and refurbishments of passenger and cruise vessels. The area of interior design is becoming increasingly important at an earlier stage in the concept development phase, and the acquisition of Steen Friis Design and their accumulated expertise will further strengthen our position within our core business area and cooperation with ship owners and operators and successfully take projects from idea to completion.

“With increased focus on hotel management, accommodation and passenger comfort in the marine industry we are very excited about this addition to the OSK Design group. This really cements our commitment and increases our capacities within ship interior design and exterior styling,” says CEO of OSK Design Anders Ørgård Hansen and continues: “we expect a high level of synergy between the two companies, and we are looking forward to continue working with our clients and provide them with the best solutions in modern ship design.”

Currently Steen Friis Design is responsible for the interior design onboard the hospital vessel for Mercy Ships under construction at Xingang Shipyard in China, and OSK Design is heading the interior design onboard the newbuildings for Gotlandsbolaget currently under construction at GSI in China.

Steen Friis Design (Denmark) will continue as an independent company but will soon be integrated into the offices of OSK in Copenhagen. They have more than 18 years’ experience within the field of passenger vessel interior and have worked with the majority of Scandinavian ship owners and shipyards worldwide within their field.

OSK Design (Denmark) is one of the leading designers of RoPax vessels with more than 50 years’ experience within ship design. A staff of more than 50 designers assist owners and shipyards worldwide when developing new designs for the industry.
