DBI Danish Fire & Security and OSK-ShipTech release report 'New Fire Strategies in the wake of UMOE VENTUS'

Funded by the Danish Maritime Fund, DBI Danish Fire & Security and OSK-ShipTech have released the report 'New Fire Strategies in the Wake of UMOE VENTUS'. Together we have investigated the fire on-board crew transfer vessel UMOE VENTUS, which left the vessel unrecognizable within 15 minutes. Luckily, all crew members survived.

The report presents new and more easily adaptable methods of increasing fire safety on FRP-vessels (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) from the early design phase as they are more vulnerable. Also, the report highlights the need for increased risk assessment throughout all areas as well as additional training of crew members.
