As part of a general renewal of their research fleet, DTU Aqua has received their new monitoring and research vessel HAVFISKEN which is bigger and better equipped than their previous vessel of the same name.
The new vessel is equipped with two trawls and an A-frame for mounting of sensitive measuring equipment allowing the researchers to monitor the fish stock in new ways. HAVFISKEN will be operated by 2-4 crew members (four 2-man cabins) and can accommodate up to 12 researchers and students on day trips. The first 100 expedition days are already booked, and 65 expeditions are being planned. HAVFISKEN will operate out of Strandby Port. OSK-ShipTech A/S is behind the basic design, and Vestværftet ApS has drawn up the General Arrangement.
