Press release

Steen Friis Hansen, the founder of Steen Friis Design, has passed away

It is with great sadness that we have received the news about Steen Friis Hansen’s sudden and premature death.

Steen Friis Hansen was a trained architect from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and offset his career in maritime design in Claus Horn’s design studio in Copenhagen. In 1998, he founded Steen Friis Design which he took from a one-man company to a larger design studio and strong brand, where he and his team of architects and interior designers over the years contributed significantly to the ferry industry and passenger vessels – both in Denmark and internationally.

In 2016, Steen Friis Design A/S joined OSK Design, when OSK Design bought the company, which has specialised in ship interiors with clear references to the Scandinavian design tradition. OSK took over both the highly skilled designers as well as the strong project portfolio, and we are happy to be able to continue the high level of quality and unique sense of detail in modern ship interiors that Steen developed over the years. Latest in high-profile projects such as the hospital ship Atlantic Mercy for Mercy Ships as well as the award-winning WB Yeats, which was the last ferry to leave FSG yard in Flensburg.

We are sending our deepest condolences to the family.
